Make Your Purpose Tangible - The Story of the Eagle River Rock

Make Your Purpose Tangible - The Story of the Eagle River Rock

In this episode, I share a new story I’ve never told before on the podcast about how my mom made her purpose tangible. Anyone like me and frequent the North Woods of Wisconsin in the summers? We’d stay at Sandy Shores Resort in Conover, WI, just outside of Eagle River. Lake Buckatobin was our sanctuary. Generations of my family have made Eagle River and the North Woods our second home, but we never actually owned a place in recent years. My parents manifested and worked really hard to get a place of their own, and today’s story shows how my mom kept going in the day-to-day to make her dream a reality. This is a valuable leadership lesson that we can all put into play right away.

Key Points

  • Sometimes our purpose lives only in our mind. It feels like it’s a series of thoughts or even a vision that we can’t quite explain.

  • Make your purpose tangible - a book, a photo, an Eagle River rock, etc. Put this visual or physical cue near where you work or spend your time each day. This is going to help you remember your purpose and help you ground yourself when you’re in the minutia of it all.

Announcements!

  • My YouTube channel hit 500 subscribers over the weekend! Therefore, I’m preparing for a new weekly video/podcast series that feels like you’re coming along with me on this leadership development journey.

  • There will be:

    • Book Club with Kayla - I’ll be sharing my favorite leadership, personal, or professional development books and breaking down the lessons in bite sides bits you can take action on.

    • Feedback Friday - Ask me your leadership questions, and I’ll answer those in a video/podcast episode each Friday!

    • Skill Building Saturday - I will teach on a new leadership skill that expands off of the book or the feedback from earlier in the week. Whether it’s a tangible method or template or a mindset skill, you’ll have something you can try and practice in the upcoming week to improve your leadership.

  • Submit any books you’d like to see me review as well as your questions for Feedback Friday via email - Kayla@KFAConsulting.org.
